Opening The Treasures More Lavishly

At the Second Vatican Council the bishops declared, "The treasures of the Bible are to be opened up more lavishly so that a richer fare may be provided for the faithful at the table of God's word." From that declaration came the Lectionary for Mass, a three-year cycle of readings for Sundays and major feasts. Word to Worship now supports that lectionary, including support for the deuterocanonical books (Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach, and Baruch) which previously would not have been recognized, and we welcome our many Roman Catholic friends who follow it.

It is a joy to open this site more lavishly to all those who worship our Risen Lord, Christ Jesus so we may honor him more fully. I echo the desire of that Council for all the faithful that "through Christ the Mediator, they should be drawn day by day into ever more perfect union with God and with each other, so that finally God may be all in all." Amen.

Word to Worship Goes Mobile

WordToWorship.com is now more mobile friendly. No more constant squinting and pinching and zooming. Try it out. We've tested it out on a few devices but please let me know if anything doesn't look right on your device.

Learning to Walk

Today WordToWorship.com celebrates its first birthday and it's been an exciting year. We launched on November 19, 2011 at the NJ JAM conference for worship leaders. Since then we've added over 750 songs, tagged hundreds of Bible verses, and added 75 new registered users. Naturally, the site has had some growing pains throughout the year and I'm sure there'll be more as it continues to grow but I've had a lot of help and encouragement from many people.

O For A Thousand Songs To Sing

In 1738 Charles Wesley longed for "a thousand tongues" in order to sing our "great Redeemer’s praise." He was joined in 2007 by David Crowder who added a chorus which beckons, "so come on and sing out." And now we can sing out even more as WordToWorship.com has a thousand songs to assist in those praises.

Welcome Liturgical Friends!

We now have the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) and welcome our many Anglican, Baptist, Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Reformed friends around the world who follow it.
