Come Home Running

CCLI Song Number 4274621
Scripture:
Luke 15:17-20;
Auto Scripture:
Proverbs 10:1; Song of Solomon 5:14; Ezra 5:11; Ecclesiastes 10:19; Judges 14:13; Isaiah 61:10;
Lyrics:
Verse 1
Oh, heart of mine, why must you stray?
From One so fair, you run away.
And one more time you have to pay
the heaviness of needless shame.

Chorus
Oh, heart of mine, come back home;
you've been too long out on your own,
and He's been there all along,
watching for you down the road.

Verse 2
So, come home running, His arms are open wide.
His name is Jesus, and He understands.
He is the answer you are looking for.
So, come home running just as you are.

Verse 3
Oh, child of God, so dearly loved,
and ransomed by the Savior's blood,
and called by name "daughter" and "son,"
wrapped in the robe of righteousness.

Used this as a "message response" song after sermon this past Sunday (3/19/17) about the Prodigal Son. We're using Narrative Lectionary and Luke 15 was the text. Also helped that in the close of the message, our pastor invited people to "come home" several times (and I had no idea he was going to do that nor did he know I was using this tuneā€”just happened to be a "God thing"!
