Come Abide With Me

Verse 1

Abide with me the ev'ning light approaches
The darkness deepens Lord with me abide
When all hope flees and I am left without all hope
Help of the help-less come abide with me

The day grows dim
Each moment passes swiftly
The joys of earth are nowhere to be seen
Still all around me
Change decay life’s glory fades
O changeless Father come abide with me

Verse 3

Each passing hour I need your Spirit’s comfort
No grace but Yours can break the tempter’s pow'r
No other one can be my guide my stay O God
Through storm and sunshine come abide with me

Verse 4

Your grace sustains no enemy can shake me
No ill no tears shall move this hope within
An empty grave proclaims
That death shall have no sting
My vic-t'ry certain come abide with me

Verse 5

Before my eyes Your cross stays always with me
It pierces darkness leading me to light
The morning breaks
Death’s darkest shad-ows take their flight
In death in life Lord come abide with me
