Contemporary "Theme Song" for the Lenten season

The idea is to have one consistent song (and motif) that we sing every week throughout lent.

Any ideas? :)

I like the idea of having a consistent theme song. The ideal would be to find out from your pastor what aspect of Lent will be focused on and choose a song to match that. But I've often found it hard to get my pastor to commit to a theme far enough in advance to be able to work a new song around.

I really like This Dust by Kip Fox right now (though Kip is a friend so I could be biased). Also a song like Lead Me To The Cross by Brooke Fraser could be a great way to point to holy week throughout lent. Or perhaps use a hymn such as Take My Life and choose different verses for each week.

Hey Nathan,

I know Lent has begun, but Glenn Packiam has a great lenten song that we're going to be doing on Good Friday:

I haven't found a chart, but it's pretty simple. Good luck!

I just got back from my trip to Vietnam.

Thanks all for your recommendations. I think we'll go with Lead Me to the Cross -- it's the song our congregation is most familiar with (they're not familiar with much right now) and also makes for a great song on Good Friday when we have the congregation physically nail nails to a cross.

Definitely going to use Take My Life as well.

Thanks!
